Cardiac Hill
by Anonymous
When the crowd starts cheering, it is near
I know other runners begin to fear
The cheers fade out, as you leave them behind
You see it coming with in your mind
A few more turns and I'll be there
The path is silent, I taste the air I hear my spikes scraping the ground
Now my heart begins to pound
Here comes the best part in every race
Its time for me to set the pace
I look up once, there is no top
The time is here, I can not stop
I start out fast, like them all
Running up, the dirt faced wall
Now some walk and some still run
I'll push the pace until I've won
As the hill gets flat, you think its done
But runners know its just begun.
Now your thighs begin to burn
I fight the pain, it is my turn
Ignore the cramps and make my move
Running tough, I must improve
I reach the top and there is light
Over the hill I've won the fight
I sprint ahead, I don't look back
I know I've conquered Cardiac.
